The movement that has been inspired by, for this artist, looks likes surrealism.
“Chocolatopia” – is a personal illustration, done in 2008, a photomontage with some strong retouch/paintwork and some 3D additions.
“Art Direction” – 2008 project, some colourful shapes were modeled in 3D but everything else was created in Photoshop. It looks like Dali’s melting clocks with the melting woman and the use of frame like Magritte does.
“Fanta” – Nolbert has used graphic design, illustration and web design to make a colour explosion in the form of advertising.
My own style of Nolberts Dali and Magritte inspired image:
I first duplicated the layer and selected the face structure with the polygonal lasso tool, i then moved the selected area to the right side of the image. I selected the eyes again with the polygonal lasso tool and erased then and used the paint bucket tool to change the area to white.
I then selected the Ellipse tool to make circular holes in the head, this is to then add some chains and a hook so the head is then hanging. To do this I chose an image off of Google images of some chains and a hook and then used the quick selection tool to cut them to the image of the hanging face. I put them inline with the circles previously made until they were aligned both sides.
Lastly, I re-selected the mask and went onto filter and ‘filter gallery’ and clicked on the artistic look and chose the plastic wrap to make the mask shine and look like it’s been melted. Then I went on filter again and used ‘liquify’ to then select a brush size and drag parts of the edges to make the mask look like it’s melting fully for the final look.
This was the final outlook:
“Nothing without Love (wallpack)” – The artist took the photograph from Nikos Vasilakis with full permission and the model is Katerina Anyfantaki. They used illustrator and character design to produce the final image. The movement inspired for this image is art nouveau with the use of organic shapes of flowers and the human form.
“Time Travel in a Time of Regret” – The artist used digital art through illustration to create this image. This again looks in the style of art nouveau and uses he organic and geometric shapes.
“Love and all Consequences” – This image used a cartooning effect with graphic design in illustrator. It uses the framing like the art nouveau style but rather than the organic shapes being outside the center they form the circle geometric shape around the human form.
My style of:
I took the style of Jared’s art nouveau look and made it into my own. I used the angle of the person looking back at the photographer and the banner of the 3rd image. Then i used the floral textured look from all the others.
First I added a backdrop of leaves and erased the white backdrop. I used the quick selection tool to delete big chunks of the white background and then further finished it off with a small erase size to erase the white backdrop.
Next I selected an image from google of a girl looking back at the viewer which i could then manipulate to look like the first digital art that Jared did. I placed the copy onto the piece and changed the levels so that it fitted with the background leaves more using the contrast levels to adjust this.
Then, I added a banner like the last and third image Jared did so that the overall image incorporated all three styles of Jared’s pieces. I placed it on her shoulders so that it framed her just like an art nouveau piece would look like. I then used the filters took to change the style of the banner to a plastic wrap look which gave a monochromatic scheme and looked more interesting like the wooded pattern of Jared’s third piece and also so that it wouldn’t stand out in the image but blend in more.
Finally I used the website ‘Brusheezy’ to download some leave brushes into photoshop, so that i could use the brush tool and place them onto the image to frame it and surround the girl and banner and therefore give it a final overall touch to make it more visually interesting.
“The Music Nature” – This image uses illustrator to produce the piece. It’s really creative and looks like a form of the unconscious, dream world, using the inspiration from the surrealism movement.
“Nike Football- The Swoosh Drone”- This was done for an advertisement with Nike Football. It looks like the image was done with a photoshop backdrop and then with Cinema 4D to get the 3D effect.
“Coca Cola Brand Visual”- Another advertising campaign that was done but for Coca cola. It looks like the style of Expressionism with the vivid colours to create spiritually or psychologically intense work to drag people into their advertisement.
My in the Style Of:
I first selected an image of a bee from google images and copied the image to photoshop where I had an image i’d taken of a coke can. After this I erased the background using both the eraser tool and the magic eraser tool.
After this I took the image of the bee and duplicated the layer. This then gave me the scale of the shadow for the bee, which i created in blending options and colour overlay by selecting the colour picker to get the same colour shadow as the coke can has. I then lowered the opacity so it looked more realistic.
After this i duplicated another layer of the bee and placed it on top of the coke can. I then blurred the bee so it fitted the aperture blur of the rest of the image. Next, I selected an image of a lady bird from google images and placed it onto the photoshop image. I then erased the background using the magic erase tool and the erase tool. I then used transform to scale the lady bird down to a realistic size.
Then, I duplicated the lady bird layer and did the same shadow effect as the bee by going to blending options and then colour overlay. I duplicated both the lady bird and the shadow of the lady bird to create another further back in the image. I re-scaled the lady bird by using transform and clicked on ‘edit’ ‘transform’ and flip horizontal. Lastly I blurred the ladybird so it wasn’t sharper than the place it was at in the background.
After that I got an image of some water droplets with a clear grey scale background to then erase the background and place onto the coke can and create a water droplet effect on the can. I then did the same two more times by duplicating the layer and putting it lower on the can, using transform to rescale and place the droplets.
I then did the same again to the lighter side of the coke can by getting a clearer image. I erased the background colour so that it fit the colour of the can, again all the way down the can.
Next, I copied an image of a mountain backdrop so that I could add some depth to the image like Jerico did with his image. I transformed the image so it fit the whole canvas to then bring through the image. After that I selected the coke can layer and erased the grass. With the mountain layer underneath it i could then have the mountain image showing through realistically like it was a perspective from a bridge overlooking a river and mountain view. I blurred the image of the mountain backdrop using box blur so that it didn’t detract attention to the coke can.
I then selected a dragon fly and placed it onto my design. I used the erase tool to get rid of the cream backdrop and further erased any little bits that weren’t previously erased.
Finally, I selected another image of a dragon fly and placed it onto the image to the right of the can. This was to then mirror and give a flow around the can using the different bugs. Then, I selected the wings of the left dragonfly and placed them onto the right dragon fly so they blended in better with the background. This is what the image turned out like:
